Before founding Ixaris, Alex worked as a senior consultant in the Cambridge-based tech practice of Arthur D. Little, a global management consultancy providing technology and innovation advice to blue chip clients. Alex holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Malta, where he later headed the Computer Science department; as well as MSc and PhD degrees in computer science from the University of Edinburgh.
Managing Director, Bain Capital Ventures
Based in New York Matt focuses on investments in financial technology and services. Matt started his investing career at Bain Capital private equity in 1995, having worked previously at Bain & Company, and attended Williams College, where he majored in rugby. In 2000, he founded Village Ventures, which he ran for 12 years and where he focused on early-stage fintech investing. In 2012 he re-joined Bain Capital Ventures.

He represents national geographies, banking consortia and industry sectors for example within the European Commission and the EPC. Before entering the world of finance he helped transform many industries through diverse international managerial roles at IBM for many years.
Executive director, innovations partnering, Visa Europe
At Visa Jonathan Vaux works to ensure the corporation remains the preferred payment method as digital technologies evolve and change the way consumers buy and pay for things. Vaux is focused on extending Visa into new digital environments, whether online or in-store, through a mobile or a tablet, in-app or through a digital wallet, and developing ways for partners to integrate Visa services into their platforms. Vaux holds an honours degree in Law from University College London and a Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Chris Skinner is an independent commentator on the financial markets and, as Balatro, Chris assists clients as an advisor, as well as sometimes being commissioned to write or speak on their behalf at conferences and tradeshows.
As well as being Chief Executive of Balatro, Chris chairs the European networking group the Financial Services Club. The Financial Services Club is a prestigious meeting place, and allows networking between members and regulators, practitioners and futurists.
Director of Innovation, Consult Hyperion
David Birch is an internationally-recognised thought leader in digital money and digital identity. One of the 2014 ‘Power 50’ in European digital financial services and a NextBank Fintech, Dave is a Director of Consult Hyperion, the technical and strategic consultancy that specialises in electronic transactions. Before helping to found Consult Hyperion in 1986, he spent several years working as a consultant in Europe, the Far East and North America.
Prior to joining VocaLink, David was President of Western Union with responsibility for Business Development and Innovation. At Western Union, David oversaw the development of strategy for e-Commerce, Mobile Payments, Business Payments and Pre-Paid Cards. Previously he spent six years at First Data Corporation (FDC), most recently as Executive Vice President managing all of FDC’s activities outside of the US, including merchant acquiring, merchant transaction processing, issuer processing and ATM network solutions business units. David currently serves on the Board of WorldPay, Europe’s largest acquirer and e-Commerce specialist.

Jeremy Light is head of Accenture Payment Services for Europe, Africa and Latin America. He brings vast experience to his current role, focusing on origination and capability development.
Currently he is bringing his specialist skills to payments, cards and digital payments. Building upon his in-depth experience of capabilities in real-time payments, mobile devices and new technologies such as the blockchain, he is passionate about helping clients manage the transition towards a cashless society, replacing existing payment methods to meet consumer and corporate needs in the digital age.
